  • Schnapper Rock Play Space

Pin Oak Reserve Playscape

Pin Oak Reserve in Schnapper Rock is set amidst new housing with views out to the inner reaches of the Waitemata Harbour and offered up a blank canvas to create play opportunities for local kids.

The LA Works design is unconstrained by traditional ideas of play with innovative water play elements that are fed by the rain.

A space net with tube slide offers safe and dynamic climbing and a ParkLife ‘Goalkeeper’ helps activate the flat lawn area.

All excavations to level out areas of the site were re-used to create mounds for BMX riding, to meet budgetary constraints and ecological values.

Pin Oak Reserve Playscape is rated in the top 10 playgrounds in Auckland.

“Schnapper Rock (Pin Oak) is arguably the best of quite a big bunch of new playgrounds. The playground is enticing and the children hopped merrily down the wooden stepping stones keen to try the water play installation that includes a large spiral hand-pump. Pumped water spills from a tank and down a man-made creek bed under a wobbly ridge and young children’s slide.”  Diana Clement, New Zealand Herald, 26/11/2011.
